Why SoftwareWatcher exists
Anyone looking for business software finds hundreds of packages that all promise they can do everything. Prices are often not shown, and what you only notice after buying, such as a missing integration or data you cannot take with you, is stated nowhere. As a result, choosing software takes a lot of time, and sometimes still goes wrong.
SoftwareWatcher makes that choice clearer. Here you compare 275 software packages in 47 categories, from accounting software and CRM systems to payroll software and staff scheduling. For each package you see features, indicative prices, integrations and reviews, and for each category a comparison table puts the packages side by side.
Not sure exactly what you are looking for? Then request free software advice. For companies looking for software, SoftwareWatcher is free.
Who is behind it
SoftwareWatcher was founded by Auke Westra and Sjaak Schokker. Auke is an experienced data analyst; Sjaak is a business analyst with a background in finance. Together they have more than 20 years of experience in software analysis, data modelling and digital strategy.
In their work with business data and processes, they see how often a software choice gets stuck on integrations and data that do not flow properly between systems. That is why, for every category, we look at integrations and data as well as features and price.
How we compare
- Product profiles
are maintained by the suppliers themselves through the SoftwareWatcher portal: features, price indications, integrations and images.
- Comparison tables
show the same characteristics for every package in a category, such as the indicative price, a free trial account, a demo and cloud use.
- Reviews
are written by users of the software.
- Knowledge base articles and selection guides
are written and checked by us. Every article shows when it was published and when its sources were checked.
Which package suits best depends on your situation, such as the number of users, your industry and the software you already use. The selection guides help you determine what to look out for.
How SoftwareWatcher earns money
Revenue comes from software suppliers, including paid listings with a link to their website or trial account, and from advertising. That changes nothing about the comparison tables: they show the same characteristics for every package. And the order of packages in the lists is not for sale.
Do you see an error in a product profile or article? Email [email protected] and we will look into it.
The order of packages in our lists is not for sale.
Comparison tables show the same characteristics for every package.
Why you can trust us
- We don't sell software ourselves.
- Suppliers cannot buy a higher place in the lists.
- Comparison tables show the same characteristics for every package.
- Articles and selection guides show who wrote them and when the sources were checked.
- You deal directly with the founders, with no layers in between.
Readable for AI assistants too
We write SoftwareWatcher for people who have to make a choice. At the same time, more and more people ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude for advice on software, and those assistants only give good advice if they find accurate information.
That is why we keep the information clear and consistent: every package has the same fixed characteristics, categories are clearly defined, and articles show who wrote them and when the sources were checked. That makes the site more pleasant to read, and it helps AI assistants describe software correctly.
Where we're heading
We're expanding SoftwareWatcher step by step: more categories, more selection guides and comparisons that go deeper into integrations and costs. Missing a package or category? Let us know at [email protected].
What we stand for
- 01
Transparent
SoftwareWatcher does not sell software itself. We compare packages on the same characteristics and are open about how we earn money.
- 02
Collaboration
Suppliers maintain their own product profile via the SoftwareWatcher portal. This way the features, prices and integrations come from the party that knows the software best.
- 03
Simple
Not everyone has the same knowledge when it comes to business software. That is why our platform is set up so that everyone can make a well-considered choice when selecting business software.
