Which emails does a webshop need?

For a webshop, email is more than a newsletter. The emails that earn the most are not sent by you: they are triggered automatically by something a customer does. These four flows give you a good foundation:

  • Welcome series: two or three emails after a sign-up, about who you are and what you are good at.
  • Abandoned basket: a reminder when someone left products in their basket.
  • After the purchase: a thank-you, tips for the product and later a request for a review.
  • Win-back: a message to customers who have not bought anything for a while.

For that, your email software needs to know what happens in your webshop. So choose a package with a ready-made integration with your webshop platform that passes on orders, viewed products and baskets. All packages in this article are in the overview of email marketing software.

Where the packages differ

  • Pricing model: most packages charge per contact. With Klaviyo, all active profiles count, including contacts you have not emailed for a long time. Reloadify looks at the contacts you want to reach and your number of orders.
  • Integrations: not every package integrates equally well with every platform. Look at which data the integration exchanges, not just whether it exists.
  • SMS and other channels: Klaviyo, Omnisend and Reloadify combine email and SMS in one flow.
  • Language, support and data: Reloadify, Spotler and Laposta are Dutch companies; Reloadify and Laposta store your data in the Netherlands.

The packages in brief

The prices come from the suppliers' pricing pages and were checked on 1 October 2026. American suppliers charge in dollars.

Package Free Paid from Strong in
Klaviyo Up to 250 active profiles $20 per month (251 to 500 profiles) Segments and flows based on webshop data
Omnisend Up to 250 contacts $11,20 per month Email, SMS and web push for smaller webshops
Reloadify 14-day trial €26 per month with annual billing Dutch platforms, loyalty and customer data
Mailchimp Up to 250 contacts $13 per month Simple newsletters and many integrations

Klaviyo

Klaviyo is made for webshops and pulls a lot of data from your platform: orders, viewed products and baskets. With it you build fine-grained segments and see how much revenue each flow generates. According to the pricing page, Klaviyo is free for up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails per month. After that you pay according to the number of active profiles, so clean up your list regularly.

Omnisend

Omnisend focuses on small and medium-sized webshops and has ready-made flows, pop-ups and forms. According to the pricing page it is free for up to 250 contacts and 500 emails per month; Standard starts at $11,20 and Pro, with unlimited emails, at $41,30 per month. Switching from another package is free.

Reloadify

Reloadify is a Dutch platform with ready-made integrations for Lightspeed, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento 2, CCV Shop and Shopware 6. Besides email and SMS it includes a customer data platform, a loyalty programme and product recommendations. According to the pricing page it costs from €29 per month, or €26 with annual billing, with unlimited emails and users. You can try it free for 14 days.

Mailchimp

Mailchimp is the best-known package and easy to get started with. It integrates with WooCommerce and Zapier; for Shopify you need an app. According to the pricing page, the free plan is limited to 250 contacts and 500 emails per month. For a webshop that mainly wants to run on flows and segments, the specialised packages above are often stronger.

What about Laposta or Spotler?

If you mainly send newsletters and few automated emails, Laposta is a clear Dutch choice: free for up to 2.000 contacts and 12.000 emails per month, with Laposta branding. If you are looking for support with strategy and execution instead, or also send a lot of transactional email, look at Spotler; its price is on request.

Personalising with more than order data

Order data tells you what someone bought, not what they are looking for. If you want to send emails that match a customer's wishes, you need data the customer gives you themselves, for example in a product quiz. Personalisation software such as bluebarry collects it and passes it on to Klaviyo, Reloadify and Spotler, among others. Read how that works together in personalisation in your webshop.

How to test a package

  1. Connect your webshop and check that orders, products and baskets come through.
  2. Build the abandoned basket flow and make a test purchase yourself.
  3. Create a segment, such as customers who bought twice, and check that the number is right.
  4. Calculate the price for your current list and for a list twice that size.
  5. Ask support a question and see how quickly, and in which language, you get an answer.
