The main difference

HubSpot started as marketing software and built a CRM with a free version around it, where marketing, sales and service come together. You get going with it quickly. Salesforce Sales Cloud is one of the largest CRMs in the world and can be set up in detail around your own processes, with thousands of integrations via the AppExchange.

Choose HubSpot if

  • you want to start for free: the free CRM is available for up to 2 users and 1.000 contacts;
  • marketing and sales need to work in the same system;
  • you want quick results without a long implementation project.

Choose Salesforce if

  • your sales organisation is large or complex, with its own processes and many integrations;
  • you want the CRM to grow with you into an international organisation;
  • you start with a clear package: the Starter Suite costs €25 per user per month with annual billing.

What to look out for with both

With both, the price rises considerably in the higher editions. HubSpot charges one-off onboarding costs for Professional and Enterprise; with Salesforce a large part of the costs often lies in setup by a partner. Work out the total costs over three years.

Features only one of the two has

Of the key features for CRM systems, HubSpot and Salesforce both have 6. According to the suppliers, neither has one the other lacks.
