Option for employees to arrange certain HR matters themselves via a mobile app. Think of viewing the roster, requesting leave and viewing holiday hours.

Examples: ministries, water boards, provinces, municipalities, the UWV (Employee Insurance Agency), the police and institutions with a public task.

Employees can indicate in the staff scheduling software when they are available. This is often done via a mobile app or computer. The employees' preferences are shown clearly in the staff schedule. The planner can then make an efficient schedule.

In many cases a staff schedule has to meet a certain staffing level. To make this easy to check, the staff software has the option to set a staffing level, so that it can be checked against easily.

In most staff scheduling software this is indicated with a colour (often red), or you get a signal when the staffing level is not yet sufficient.

It is possible to create multiple branches and/or departments for different staff schedules. The staff scheduling software makes sure you can schedule per department. This gives you insight into the staff schedule per department, team or location.

Suppose you have a team for the kitchen, service, warehouse and delivery. For each team you use the staff scheduling software to make a roster that takes staffing levels, opening hours and skills into account. You then invite the employees to schedule the shifts themselves in the staff scheduling software.

Set maximum scheduled budgets. A notification appears in the staff scheduling software when the budget is exceeded.

In the staff scheduling software the expected revenues are visible and a roster can be made based on expected wage costs.

As an employer you always want a good balance in staff scheduling between:

• The right skills
• The right place and time
• The right costs

With the "scheduling based on expected wage costs" function you always have insight into the wage costs of a particular schedule. This lets you see per day, week or month what the costs are for a particular staffing level.

Tip:
Do you always want to use the right wage costs? Then it is handy to link the staff scheduling software to a payroll system that you use.

The weather forecast for the coming days can be loaded into the staff scheduling software and the staff schedule can be made based on it.

At some companies the weather has a major influence on staff scheduling. In that case it is handy to use the weather forecast when making the staff schedule.

Insight:
It also gives insight into the past. Because you make a staff schedule based on, among other things, the weather, you can also look back to see whether this was the right decision. This way you can learn from certain choices and make the staff schedule more and more efficient and better.

Employees can swap shifts with each other using the staff scheduling software. The changes are automatically applied to the roster and you may receive a request to approve or reject the swap by a supervisor on the planner.

• It is the best way to be sure whether the software suits your company

The staff scheduling software makes it possible to register hours using a (digital) time clock. A time clock is a small unit that is mounted at one location or at several locations. Staff or other users can often clock in with a badge, key fob, bank card and nowadays also with a mobile phone. The hours then become visible straight away in the staff scheduling software. Clocking in via a mobile app has the advantage that you no longer need a physical time clock.

Please note: some software suppliers do not have their own time clock, but integrate with a supplier who specialises in this.
