DigitalOcean is a cloud platform for developers, start-ups and SMEs. For web hosting you rent a Droplet: a virtual server on which you install WordPress or another CMS with one click. With App Platform you put a website or app online from GitHub or GitLab, without managing a server yourself.
A Droplet costs from $4 per month (512 MiB memory, 10 GiB storage); with 1 GiB memory you pay $6 and with 2 GiB $12 per month. You pay per second that the server exists, up to a maximum of the monthly amount. App Platform is free for 3 static sites; paid apps start at $5 per month. Backups cost 20% to 30% of the price of the Droplet. Email support is free.
